‘Tis the season for the lighting of Christmas trees around Los Angeles. Among the most popular event, and one to rival the lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center in New York, is the Christmas Tree lighting event at The Grove.
This year it will take place on Sunday, November 21st at 7:30 p.m. The tree is 100 ft. tall with 10,000 ornaments and 15,000 lights. There will be fireworks, a magic snowfall, and entertainment will include American Idol star, David Archuleta, internet sensation, Charice, Wilson Phillips and others.
Santa Monica Place
The first holiday season at the new Santa Monica Place will commence with a musical tree lighting called “Santa Monica Shines” on Saturday, November 20th at 6:00 p.m.
The event will be hosted by KCRW music director, Jason Bentley and will showcase various performers from local schools.
Continuing through December 31st there will be tree performances nightly every 30 minutes after dark.
Honorable Mention – Department of Water and Power
The DWP put up a mile-long light exhibit along Griffith Park with each light miniature depicting a different local landmark.
