Thanksgiving in Los Angeles

My favorite times of the year in Los Angeles are the holidays.  People leave town and there is little traffic on the roads.  It is an absolute pleasure to get around.

And if you are staying in L.A. over Thanksgiving there are things to do:

Want to volunteer?

The Los Angeles Mission will continue its annual Thanksgiving Dinner tradition since 2007.  They need volunteers to and out food and donate clothing.  And who knows, if you go down and help you may see the odd star or two volunteering.  This event takes place on November 21st.  Sign up to volunteer.

Westside Community Thanksgiving  takes places at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.  It includes Thanksgiving Dinner, medical consultations and eye exams, haircuts, entertainment for the kids, and clothing distribution.  Dinner is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Sign up to volunteer.

Are you a Vegan?  Bring your  Vegan dish to  World Vegan Day L.A. in Rancho Park.  Label the dish, bring your own utensils and any toys you like, and join in the fun.  The event starts at 11:00 a.m.

The Laugh Factory will host its 33rd Annual Thanksgiving Feast for the homeless and those alone for the holidays.  Meals will be served at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 pm. by well-known comedians followed by a live show after each meal.

Gobble Wobble  at Emerson Park in  Santa Monica will take place on November 24th from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  This is a fun-filled morning of racing, games and family activities for a good cause.  Bring a can of food with you.

For a fun family day out Universal Studios will be open as will Griffith Park where you can walk off that turkey dinner.

Eater L.A. gives a great guide to some wonderful wonderful restaurants around Los Angeles offering Thanksgiving specials.

I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones.  Enjoy and don’t worry about overeating this once.
